Black-tie Gala Dinner at Pena Palace and panoramic drive through Cascais & Estoril in classic cars
We’ve pictured the perfect elegant evening: an enchanted Palace at the top of the mountain; a return to the recent past of the Portuguese royalty and the glamour of the long gala dinner dresses… This was the dream of our client that we’ve decided to materialize in a truly magical evening never to be forgotten… In the late afternoon, right at the door of a luxury 5 star Palace Hotel in Lisbon, lined our exquisite classic car collection each one with their corresponding driver. For the enthusiasts of the grand luxurious classic cars we’ve had the Jaguars, Mercedes and Rolls Royce. Those who love the grand American “muscle cars” were also not disappointed by the Buicks, Oldsmobile or Cadillacs. It was time to depart along the beautiful Estoril Coast overlooking the white sandy beaches and small fortresses by the water. Our destination was the town of Estoril where the famous Casino is located, where once, during World War II, games of spies, kings and politicians were played daily, many of them would have driven (who knows?) some of these same vehicles. The journey was still long so we took off heading along the windy road of Sintra’s mountain and then there it was: the magnificent Pena Palace, already under the dark yellowish colors of the sunset. The powerful vehicles' engines roared and echoed loud as they went up the mountain until we’ve reached the gates of the Palace where we were already awaited. The path to the Palace revealed a candle light pathway that lighted up the late afternoon. It was through this path that we were lead into the Palace where, together with our guests, we were taken on a private after-hours tour along the magnificent rooms of the former royal residence, absorbing enchanting stories of royal days gone by… At the end of the visit a refreshing cocktail awaited everyone in a terrace overlooking the mountain and the sea. The night would not have been over without a refined dinner, accompanied by some excellent Portuguese wines, which would simply conclude the perfectly spent day…
Full-Day activity to Lisbon’s best Museums “behind the scenes”
When a Historical Society contacted us we knew already that for such a specific client, our mission would be much more than just a simple itinerary through a few interesting places. On this case our client didn’t just have a few ideas about Portugal. In fact they knew pretty much everything… Through lectures, seminars, readiness, etc. our client had educated all the members of the group in advance for the upcoming trip. Our challenge here was of given such preparation, still being able to surprise a group that was already expecting to be surprised. In the morning of this Spring Monday, we drove towards the quarter of Belém, on an especially quiet day as Monday is the day when the museums are closed. In any case for this client of ours this was not an obstacle. As we’ve reached the door of the Monastery of Jerónimos (16th century) it was with great deal of wonder that the imposing doors were opened, in exclusive for us. Ahead of us lied one of the most beautiful churches in the world, considered World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in exclusive for our client… The visit of the church and cloisters in the company of our client revealed hidden secrets and stories of the maritime discoveries. The day continued to another special Lisbon’s museum: the Ancient Art Museum. Upon arrival the doors were again closed but were “magically” opened with a renewed sense of amazement! Guiding us through the collection and areas normally closed to the public was one of the Museum’s curators. This was then commented as one of the highlights of the trip. In the afternoon the journey followed to another special and anticipated special place in Lisbon where, still today, artists and masters of incomparable talent make with their own hands furniture, gilded wood carvings, glazed tiles, book bindings just as they were done to Kings and Queens many centuries ago… The day was about to be over but there was still time to get on board of one of the traditional trams of Lisbon but this time there were no lines and waits. This time the tram was just for us! A day to remember for sure…
